Maro, is a trendy upscale resto-lounge-club situated minutes from downtown Torontos Party district. Located in a reportedly $6M renovated warehouse, it features a stunning layout, patronized by stylishly dressed and sophisticated patrons, 25 and up.

The sushi bar style, open-concept kitchen, serves up contemporary European dishes, onto a large banquet style main floor, which seats more than 200 guests. During my visit I did not try the dishes, but the patrons I spoke with said it was OK. The overall dcor is Euro-Asian influence with bamboo-print screens, plush sofas, fire red pillars, and walls accented by marble fireplaces. The marble fireplaces are covered by sheets of meshed metal and printed silk sheets that reach up to the high ceilings, creating a sexy yet alluring look.

Around 1, the tables are moved aside and the main floor quickly fills up with partiers mingling, chatting and rocking to the beat. When the DJ hits a good sequence, surprise, surprise some of these folks can actually get down. The atmosphere is relaxed yet vibrant, with a constant murmur of conversation that is intermingled with the top 40 and party jams spun by the DJ.

Friday nights are more laid back, with a good party mix and an older crowd. Saturday nights are more amped up, with the music a bit more of a dance mix. Bottle service and VIP are available. Maro has an elevated VIP area close to the DJ booth, a private VIP bar and also a private dining room/lounge with its own bar located downstairs.

If visiting Toronto I highly recommend a trip to Maro. Come with a group, a friend or a date and check out the experience that is Maro.
